Therapeutic Swedish Massage

Prenatal/Postnatal Massage

Prenatal massage allows mom to be to relax, feel comforted and unwind stress and tension that can occur during pregnancy.  To make these precious months more enjoyable a focus to main problem areas such as low back, hips, legs and feet help with many common pregnancy related issues such as sciatica, low back pain, hip pain and swelling in the extremities.  Comfortable positioning and techniques are used to enhance the physiological and emotional well-being of both mother and baby.

Infant/Child Massage

Touch is a very powerful element in human bonding especially between a child and parent.  Prolonged eye contact and both verbal and non-verbal communication are also a part of this bonding experience during infant or child massage.  Fathers can especially benefit as it gives them one-on-one time allowing them to interact and connect with their child on a deeper level.  Infant/child massage relaxes and soothes both child and parent while making the child feel loved.  It also improves circulation, boosts the immune system and helps digestion and waste elimination.  It also provides sensory stimulation, facilitates body awareness and promotes a calmer, deeper sleep.  We encourage parents to bring in their infant or child for a one-on-one lesson with one of our qualified and trained registered massage therapists.

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic drainage is a specialized gentle therapy important for improving the function of the lymphatic system which is largely responsible for our immunity.  Lymphatic fluid carries nutrients and oxygen to cells and carries cholesterol, poisonous toxins, bacteria, viruses and other pathogens away from our cells.  When the pathways to our lymph nodes become blocked, congested or damaged the lymph flow slows down or stops causing swelling and oedema and we become defenseless against harmful viruses, bacteria, fungi and other pathogens that enter the body.  This makes us vulnerable to frequent colds/flu, swelling in any part of the body and a lack of resistance topathogen related illnesses.  Lymphatic drainage is recommended for all ages as it has a detoxifying, regenerative and filtering effect on the body.

Hara Abdominal Massage

The profound benefits of abdominal massage are often overlooked and are usually left out of treatments.  The abdominal region contains vital organs responsible for elimination, digestion and reproduction. Beneficial for men, women and children the stimulating effect of the massage improves digestion, relieves constipation and increases blood and nutrient flow to all the vital organs in the entire abdominal cavity.  Women can especially benefit as this massage has been shown to help with fertility, alleviate painful periods and ovulation, help correct irregular cycles and ease symptoms of PMS.  The treatment is performed with the client lying on their back with the chest fully covered and the lower body draped.  Women are encouraged to wear a sports bra for their comfort.

The practitioner moves the client into a series of yoga-like poses or static stretches. Mild to firm pressure is applied creating a powerful, singular healing experience. Each massage session is created and expertly choreographed for the receiving individuals specific needs.

Thai Massage and Thai Medicine are said to have been founded buy the legendary Shivago Komarpaj, a physician from over 2500 years ago. He was from northern India and was said to be a close friend and personal physician of Buddha. He also worked with the Magadha King Bimbasara and the Buddhist nuns and monks called the Sangha. Though there are a combination of influences for Thai medicine from Chinese, Indian and Southeast Asian culture credit is given mostly to Mr. Komarpaj. Most of the recorded history of Thai massage was lost in 1767 during the Burmese attack in Ayutthia. There were records that survived and were inscribed in the Sala Moh Nuat, a massage pavillion in Bangkok. Following World War II Thailand became a popular place for tourists, making Thai massages a world known technique. It reached the United States in the late 1980s.
